CNG opens Brooklyn HQ, TimesLedger stays in boro

TimesLedger Newspapers’ parent company cut the ribbon Friday on its downtown Brooklyn office, where the weekly’s classified and production staff are now operating. The chain’s editorial department and display sales remain in the Bayside office.
Community Newspaper Group, a subsidiary of TimesLedger’s parent company, News Corp., officially opened its new headquarters at One MetroTech Center North Friday.
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz helped cut the ribbon on the new offices along with New York Post Publisher and News America Marketing Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Paul Carlucci and News Corporation Senior Vice President Les Goodstein.
State Sen. Carl Kruger (D−Brooklyn) and state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli also attended the ribbon−cutting ceremony.
The TimesLedger reporters and editors are staying in Bayside, where they will continue to provide full coverage of Queens news, and display sales will still be handled at the chain’s Bell Boulevard office. The main phone number is 718 229−0300 for both news and sales.
CNG owns four weekly newspaper groups: TimesLedger in Queens, Courier−Life Publications in Brooklyn, recently acquired The Brooklyn Paper and the Bronx Times. Together they produce more than 30 newspapers, periodicals and specialty magazines.
Courier−Life and The Brooklyn Paper are housed in the new offices.
The TimesLedger classified and production departments have merged into a much larger operation at the Brooklyn headquarters that is now serving both the Brooklyn papers and the Queens papers. The phone number for the classified department in Brooklyn, which also handles the Bronx Times, is 718−260−2555.
News Corp. acquired the TimesLedger, which has 14 newspapers covering separate neighborhoods in Queens, in September 2006.
