The rain didn’t dampen the spirit for more than 10,000 proud marchers, who celebrated their national pride by putting their best foot forward for the 58th Annual Norwegian Constitution Day Parade in Bay Ridge.

The jubilant jaunt stepped off along 5th Avenue, from 88th to 90th streets, wowing spectators with its cornucopia of eye−candy, including pulsating bands, floats and a rainbow of traditional costumes, before veering towards Leif Erikson Park at 67th Street for a program of celebration entitled, “Salute to Norse Mythology,” and featuring the official crowning of Bay Ridge resident Megan Hjelle as “Miss Norway 2009” by Norwegian Consul General Sissel Breier.

The parade is presented by the Norwegian−American 17th of May Committee of Greater New York.
