Brooklyn ground zero in measles outbreak

A virus that was almost vaccinated into extinction in the U.S. is making a comeback in Brooklyn.
Officials at the city’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) sent out an alert last week warning borough doctors of a measles outbreak.
City officials said that at least 11 cases of the measles have been reported in the last two months. Investigators were also looking into a possible 12th case.
Nearly all of the cases have been clustered around Williamsburg and Borough Park, city officials said.
“Still we don’t want to marginalize this,” a DOHMH spokesperson. “This is a citywide concern.”
The concern is so strong that the DOHMH is urging borough doctors to “promptly report suspected cases to the agency.”
City officials are also pushing the importance of scheduled MMRV (measles-mumps-rubella-varicella) vaccinations that are routinely given to children at 12 months and at four years.
Officials said that nearly all of the cases involved children who were unvaccinated.
Since the vaccinations are 95 percent effective and children are required to get two MMRV shots before they are accepted into city schools or day care centers, to have a child contract the measles is quite rare in both the city and the country.
“I have personally never seen a case of the measles,” Dr. Stephen Turner, Division Chief of General Pediatrics for Long Island College Hospital explained, adding that, including his residency, he has been practicing medicine for the last 15 years. “It shows how effective the vaccine is.”
However, vaccine rates have dropped over the last few years because of its alleged links to autism -- a concern that Dr. Turner said has yet to be scientifically proven.
Still, MMRV vaccinations are still the only way to thwart the measles.
“The only way to prevent measlesis to get vaccinated or to completely avoid other people,” Dr. Turner said. “It is incredibly contagious. You don’t even have to be in direct contact with a sufferer. All you have to do is walk past them on the street. If they sneeze or cough at the right time and your child is not immunized, they can catch it.”
According to the DOHMH alert, measles cause fever, rash, cough, runny nose and red eyes. As many as one in three children with measles develop complications such as diarrhea, ear infection or pneumonia. Some children have to be hospitalized and one out of 1,000 children have died from the virus.

Most of the outbreaks seen in the U.S. today originate in other countries, explained Dr. Beth Raucher, Chief Medical Officer of Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park, who said that MMRV vaccinations are just as important as yearly flu shots.

" Vaccination by inoculation is not immunization. Immunization occurs when you are stricken with a disease and survive, or if you`re exposed to pathogens and your immune system beats them. Even without the hazardous materials usually present in vaccines, bypassing the normal path of the immune system by injection into the bloodstream with pathogens from unusual sources causes more long term chronic stress on the immune system. This chronic immune system stress manifests in illness or disease later in life. "

The damage control consisted of that great humanitarian, Walter Cronkite, and the President of the United States, combining their forces to come to the rescue of the Medical Monopoly. Walter Cronkite had President Ford appear on his news program to urge the American people to submit to the inoculation with the swine flu vaccine. CBS then or later could never find any reason to air any analysis or scientific critique of the swine flu vaccine, which was identified as containing many toxic poisons, including alien viral protein panicles, formal dehyde, thimerosal (a derivative of poisonous mercury), polysorbate and some eighty other substances. HEW was to distribute the vaccine to state and local health agencies on a national basis for inoculation, at no charge. Insurance agencies then went public with their warning that they would not insure drug firms against possible studies from the results of swine flu inoculation, because no studies had been carried out which could predict its effects. It was to foil the insurance companies that CBS had Gerald Ford make his impassioned appeal to 215,000,000 Americans to save themselves while there was still time, and to rush down to the friendly local health department and get the swine flu vaccination, at absolutely no charge. This may have been CBS' finest hour in its distinguished career of "public service."
Hardly had the swine flu campaign been completed than the reports of the casualties began to pour in. Within a few months, claims totalling $1.3 billion had been filed by victims who had suffered paralysis from the swine flu vaccine. The medical authorities proved equal to the challenge; they leaped to the defense of the Medical Monopoly by labeling the new epidemic, " Guillain-Barre Syndrome." There have since been increasing speculations that the ensuing epidemic of AIDS which began shortly after Gerald Ford's public assurances, were merely a viral variation of the swine flu vaccine. And what of the perpetrator of the Great Swine Flu Massacre, President Gerald Ford? As the logical person to blame for the catastrophe, Ford had to endure a torrent of public criticism, which quite naturally resulted in his defeat for election (he had previously been appointed when the agents of the international drag operations had ushered Richard Nixon out of office). The unknown Jimmy Carter, familiar only to the supersecret fellow members of the Trilateral Commission, was swept into office by the outpouring of rage against Gerald Ford. If the problem is MEASLES then, at a minimum, only the MMR vaccine should be being recommended or, better still, the Merck measles-only vaccine should be used.
Seems as if these "recommenders" are in league with Merck to get rid of its stocks of this LESS-SAFE MMR-V vaccine.
Hope that the Brooklyn District Attorney is listening to this and pursues those who made this recommendation for KNOWINGLY endangering the welfare of Brooklyn's Children UNNECESSARILY because the MMR vaccine is DEFINITELY safer than the MMR-V vaccine is! "

It IS, however, justification for typing each case to determine if it is vaccine or wild strain and accurately reporting to the public how many vaccinated children got wild or vaccine strain measles. It IS justification for revealing to the public if all of the cases are the same strain.
Running around with fearmongering tactics and half-truth information in order to promote a corporate agenda for universal vaccination when manufacturers clearly post a variety of contraindications is fueling hate-speech and behavior against children who are allergic to vaccine componenets or have other issues the manufacturers stipulate as exclusions.
Be at least as responsible (and I use the term loosely) as the manufacturers in at least SAYING not all vaccines are appropriate for all people and stating clearly that vaccination does not confer immunity for all and that unvaccinated and vaccinated people can still become infected with both wild and vaccine strain viruses - and that such cases happen every year. Sating how many such cases are confirmed each year is also an appropriate context in which to present the actual news of an outbreak rather than an opportunity to make a sales pitch. "
