Ladies and gentlemen put your hands together for the return of The Kezners!

After a brief separation, The Kezners have reunited and are headed back to the Bronx for a series of performances.

The old school rock and roll band started with just four neighborhood kids at I.S. 192.

The band is comprised of Michael Delaney, vocals and guitarist, Alex Banyai Rivera, keyboard, harmonica and guitar, Mark Guerra, bass player, and Joe Boccagno, drums.

While in junior high school, the boys formed a band, naming it after their inspirational Earth Science teacher.

“We play a mix of country, surf and electronic music,” said Rivera. “When we mix all that stuff it comes out to a 50s and 60s type rock and roll sound.”

By 2000 they were ready to spread their original sound. The Kezners began performing on the streets of Throggs Neck, occasionally being chased away.

During October of 2000 Doug Baker of Frank Bee’s recruited the band to play in front of the store on weekends.

“I consider Throggs Neck like a small town,” said Baker. “They are very enjoyable and very talented. They are a good influence for the kids of the neighborhood.”

The band temporarily disbanded as each member went their separate way after high school, but they remained in touch and years later the music has brought them back together again.

The Kezners will be performing in front of Frank Bee’s Costume Store, 3435 E. Tremont Avenue, on Saturday, October 17 and on Halloween from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. They will also be performing on Friday, October 30 at the Bruckner Bar & Grill.
