A three-alarm fire damaged three homes in St. Albans and sent some residents to the hospital Friday morning.

The blaze began around 8:15 a.m. at a home on 154th Street and 119th Avenue and quickly escalated to surrounding houses, eyewitnesses said. Roughly 140 firefighters responded to the scene and had the fire under control within an hour, according to the FDNY.

Five people were sent to Jamaica Hospital for various injuries, according to the authorities. Three of the victims suffered minor injuries while the others had more serious conditions, the FDNY said.

No firefighters were hurt during the blaze. The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Friday afternoon.
