Come together and help Haiti
It is critical that we as a nation stand together to help the Haitian people begin the long and painful recovery from the massive magnitude 7.0 earthquake which struck Jan. 12.
The scenes on television of the collapsed buildings and people roaming the streets in shock and despair, and also the scenes of people trying frantically to dig out their buried friends and loved ones, are a tragedy. Our nation has always been among first responders to every worldwide disaster because Americans care and want to help people of all nations when disaster strikes.
Let us keep in our prayers all the dead and injured and also be grateful for those who survived. Also, let us pray for all of our responders from our country and our servicemen and women who have assisted the Haitian authorities in searching for victims of this terrible calamity.
