Kevin Avalos, 19, of the Pomonok Houses in Fresh Meadows and Nolan Lopez, 20, of Jackson Heights began chasing the other man around 4 p.m. March 6 at the intersection of 82nd Street and 37th Avenue, the DA said. After Avalos and Lopez were spotted, an eyewitness saw Avalos toss his knife under a parked car, where police later retrieved it, the DA said. Avalos and Lopez were both charged with menacing and weapon possession, the DA said. They were released on their own recognizance and ordered to return to court April 12.

Glendale man guilty of Jamaica murder

On March 22, 2008, Omo Deokoro, 32, of 834 Central Ave., got into an argument with Nomar Anderson, 30, outside Loretta’s West Indian American Cuisine at 109-24 Merrick Blvd. in Jamaica, the DA said. Deokoro shot Anderson multiple times and police who heard the shots saw the Glendale man duck inside the restaurant where he discarded the gun and his shirt.
