Forest Hills Ledger > Police & CourtsElaine Galindo, 17, of South Ozone Park, was in a 1997 Honda Civic traveling east on the Grand Central Parkway at 49th Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when it slammed into the rear of a flatbed tow truck assisting a disabled car in the right lane, police said. Another car rear-ended the Civic moments later. The occupants of the Civic were taken to New York Hospital Queens, where the girl was pronounced dead, police said. The driver and his two other passengers were listed in stable condition, police said. Neither the tow truck driver nor the driver of the other car was injured in the crash, police said.
On March 22, 2008, Omo Deokoro, 32, of 834 Central Ave., got into an argument with Nomar Anderson, 30, outside Loretta’s West Indian American Cuisine at 109-24 Merrick Blvd. in Jamaica, the DA said. Deokoro shot Anderson multiple times and police who heard the shots saw the Glendale man duck inside the restaurant where he discarded the gun and his shirt.
