10 BEST STEREO AMPLIFIER UNDER 1000 REVIEW
SONY STR-DH190 - BEST HOME STEREO AMPLIFIER UNDER 1000
Before I even start, I must admit that I do have a bit of a bias for products by Sony. Mostly because of the nostalgia but even that aside, they always seem to deliver in terms of sound, performance and quality.
The Sony STR-DH190 is such an affordable stereo amplifier that I find it hard to believe the company is making any major profit. Oh well, I guess good for us. So, I think this stereo amplifier has the budget category all to itself.
It's got such competitive pricing that for all those who want one of these stereo receivers for nostalgia, you absolutely can. The sound it produces is fantastic, and if you want even better sound, you would probably have to spend twice as much.
This best stereo amplifier under 1000 has an A+B function, connecting with 2 pairs of speakers and four analog audio inputs and one output, which means that you can easily connect this to your turntable (phono preamp), CD players or any recording device. It also features a Bluetooth receiver to connect your phone or laptop.
Naturally, to achieve that low-cost, there had to be some sacrifices that needed to be made. The radio antenna ain't the best and the speaker cable connectors aren't top-notch either, but if you want better performance and more features, you need to spend at least twice as much. So, I think the Sony STR-DH190 an awesome deal!
PYLEHOME PT270AIU - BEST BUDGET STEREO AMPLIFIER
The PyleHome PT270AIU is quite inexpensive and has a massive 300-watt power output at 8 Ohm. AM/FM radio can store up to 50 station presets, but the quality is not up to the mark.
You can use the dock to connect your iPod or iPhone and charge it simultaneously. You can also play media via the connected CD, DVD play or your phone via Bluetooth. You can also use the SD card or USB port, which are located at the front.
A fun party trick is a fact that you can turn this stereo amplifier into a karaoke machine by connecting a microphone using the ¼ inch input. Overall, it is best stereo amplifier under 1000 dollars. There have been some cutbacks and quality issues here and again, rather hard to complain for this price tag.
YAMAHA A-S501 - BEST SOUNDING STEREO AMPLIFIER UNDER 1000
Let us leave the budget category and check out what the big boys have to offer. The Yamaha A-S501 is the successor of the very well received S500. The A-S501 shares a striking resemblance with its predecessor, but some modern touches, like the built-in DAC, supports resolutions up to 24-bit, 192KHZ. I really like how it looks.
It boasts an aluminum front panel and overall, it offers you that simple yet elegant look. Something almost everyone can appreciate. The controls themselves are very conveniently placed and easy to understand, even for newbies. It feels premium as well, which is not surprising seeing what you pay for it.
The Yamaha A-S501 has 85W (8 Ohms) of output power, which is plenty of power. The makers of this stereo amplifier aimed at providing you with the most natural sound possible and they certainly succeeded. The sound is natural and loud, without any noticeable distortion.
You can attach the A-S501 to your TV or Blue-ray player using the optical and coaxial digital audio input in terms of connectivity. There are also six pairs of analog RCA inputs and a moving magnet phono input for turntables. There is a Pure Direct listening mode for the music fans wherein music signals take the shortest possible route for a clearer signal.
At this point, I did wish it had Bluetooth, it actually does with an adapter but that is not included so you will have to remember to buy that separately. Except for that one problem, it is hands down one of the best stereo amplifier under 1000 dollars.
PYLE PT696BT - BEST WIRELESS STEREO AMPLIFIER UNDER 1000
The Pyle PT696BT Bluetooth Stereo Amplifier Receiver offers you quite a lot of power, 1000 watts at its peak! This power won't be powering just a single speaker of course. You use it with multiple speakers with 4-16 ohms impedance providing you with a loud sound.
An awesome feature is that you can change the volume of individual speakers. As expected from a modern stereo amplifier, it features an in-built Bluetooth receiver so you can easily play media via your smartphone, tablet or laptop.
In terms of design, it looks fairly basic. It looks like a big black box with a built-in LCD control display. It will be under your television, so maybe the black matt finish makes it better and the ported enclosure helps with bass and offers full-range sound reproduction.
Speaking of bass, you will find bass, treble, echo and microphone adjustment along with a knob for master volume. It comes equipped with DSP sound processing technology.
The Pyle PT696BT has the necessary safety measures like Over Current, Short Circuit, and Over Voltage Protection. That is standard, but it is always good to make sure.
The AV digital amp box is equipped w/ 4K Ultra HD TV 3D and Blu ray video pass-through support, which in simple words basically means you can connect this to your television and Blue-ray.
This best stereo amplifier under 1000 certainly does what it claims, but you basically get what you pay for here. There are some issues like a weird crackling sound from the speakers and noticeable feedback, but the sound quality is decent for the price.
SONY STR-DN1080 - BEST 4K STEREO AMPLIFIER UNDER 1000
The Sony STR-DN1080 is the successor of the massively successful STR-DN1040 and actually shares a lot with it. Its 7.2-channel specification and 120 watts RMS per channel (6 ohms), 4K upscaling along with overall appearance, especially the front panel are the same as the DN1040.
The Sony STR-DN1080 certainly outshines its older siblings in terms of features and functionality. First of all, it has Bluetooth connectivity along with NFC. So, with a single tap, you can connect your device to it and start playing music.
On top of that, it offers Built-in Wi Fi with DLNA and Airplay capability, which is a must if you want to compete in the current market and be relevant.
This best stereo amplifier under 1000 features a 6 HDMI inputs. I do not know why they did this as the DN1040 had 8 HDMI inputs and was praised for it, but I guess they decided on this number because they thought 6 was the number to go? Who knows. The 4K upscaling really helps if you own a 4k TV.
The sound quality is top-notch, as you would expect from a company like Sony. However, what you do not expect from a company as big as Sony is that they discontinued app support for this model. Sure, you can still use Spotify, Pandora and Tunein, but that is a major issue and honestly, the only 1 there is on this otherwise fantastic device.
DENON AVR-S740H AV RECEIVER
Denon's AVR-S740H is an absolute beast when it comes to features. It is what I would call "feature-rich." The front display and conveniently placed button and the volume knobs that have a nice feel to them are great.
The sound it offers is awesome thanks to eARC and heightened sound effects with Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology. It is warm, loud and realistic, which makes it brilliant for listening to music and watching movies.
Speaking of music, the Denon AVR-S740H has both WiFi and Bluetooth inbuilt and offers you several options for streaming music like Amazon Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, Apply music, etc. Pretty much everything.
What sets itself apart is that it supports Alexa and Google Assistant (limited to volume changes and transport controls for G.A) So, from the comfort of your couch, you can use your voice to control it. You are going to need an Alexa device.
Overall, there is very little to complain about this AV receiver at this price; however, I really wish the customer services were better. It is near non-existent.
YAMAHA RX-V385 - BEST 5.1 STEREO AMPLIFIER UNDER 1000
The Yamaha RX-V385 is a mid-ranger and a best best stereo amplifier under 1000, but they design rather premium with a mix of aluminum and plastic. I think it looks a lot nicer than others with its low-key, elegant design comparable to that of Sony's.
Unfortunately, only 4 HDMI puts with 1 out, disappointing; but the 4k pass-through and HDR Video (Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma) make up for it a bit. The RX-V385 comes equipped with Bluetooth, so you can easily play media using your mobile.
There is Wi Fi support as well. You can stream music using AirPlay, Spotify, Pandora, Tidal and many more services.
A fantastic feature is a fact that you can pair it with an Alexa enabled device and control it via voice commands. The Yamaha RX-V385 offers excellent sound quality, the best you can get at this price point, and is very easy to setup. Definitely recommended!
ROCKVILLE RCS350-6 350 WATT 6 ZONE
They market this as an amp for schools, restaurants, and offices to evaluate it based on that. This 360-watt hybrid amplifier/receiver is capable of 70 volts, 100 volts, 8-ohm, and 4-ohm applications so you can connect multiple speakers and microphones, like during an assembly.
There are individual volume knobs for all 6 zones and 3 mic inputs. It performs fairly well. I suppose the sound is fairly clear but tends to distort at higher volume but expected and can actually be fixed with better speakers that schools don't invest in. Decent product.
DENON PMA-1600NE STEREO INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER
The Denon PMA-1600NE is all about providing you with an old-school experience with its Analogue mode, which disables all digital circuitry. It is a modern-day amplifier with MM Phono input, two optical inputs and one coaxial input.
The 1600NE focused mostly on their sound, eliminating almost all interfaces. It does try to offer you some modern features like digital inputs and built-in DAC so you can connect your smartphone via Bluetooth. If you want a simple, analog experience, which is admittedly a niche, this is the way to go.
KEIID UPGRADED VERSION
The KEiiD 2020 upgraded version certainly does not look upgraded in terms of looks. It looks like an old-school radio, which looks rather cool, but I suppose that part is subjective. Despite the old-school design, it has all the necessary modern features.
KEiiD comes with Wi Fi and the latest Bluetooth 5.0. If that isn't your style, you can use the USB port or AUX as well. There is a microphone in as well, so karaoke night! It is 40 watts, so it consumes less energy, thus creates less heat. The controls are easy and offer you App control via the MUZO app. Get past the old-school style and this is a steal!
That about sums up this article. The above was the best stereo amplifier under 1000 dollars. There were amplifiers for your home, office and even for school assemblies so I think I covered all grounds and provided something for all of you out there. Hope this article helped and thank you for reading!
